This
web site will serve to provide the UIS campus with important information
regarding proper emergency response to various emergencies that
could occur on the campus, including fires, tornados, bomb threats,
etc.
The
A-Z index page lists many related
topics including links to regulatory agencies, UIS policies, and
emergency response procedures.
The
Disaster Reference page
is a copy of the flip chart document that has been distributed
to the entire campus.
The
Emergency Action page
includes the UIS written emergency action plan mandated by OSHA
and the Illinois Department of Labor.
The
Evacuation Routes page includes
all emergency exits for every floor of every office/classroom
building on campus.
The
Evacuation Wardens page lists
the names of all staff wardens, their locations, phone numbers,
and specific meeting locations during a building evacuation.
The
Fire Prevention page includes
the UIS written fire prevention plan mandated by OSHA and the
Illinois Department of Labor, including UIS policies.
The
Severe Weather page includes proper
procedures to follow during inclement weather (tornados), including
the locations of weather radios on campus.
The
Training Module page includes a slide
show that provides information regarding emergency action and
fire prevention, meeting the training requirements mandated by
OSHA and the Illinois Department of Labor. This training module
must be viewed by all UIS employees including student workers,
temporary, and extra-help. UIS employees that do not have access
to a computer will be formally trained by the UIS
Safety Officer.
