The UIS Service-Learning Component combines public service with learning objectives. Service activities are combined with structured opportunities for students to link their tasks to the following benefits:
The intent is that both students and the people they serve are changed by the activity.
Students engaged in service-learning provide community service to non-profit agencies in order to prepare for practical community-based problem solving.
Undergraduate students earn credit toward their degree through service-learning opportunities under two ECCE categories: Engagement and Elective.
