Credit for Prior Learning
Sometimes our students come to us having already expanded their worlds through careers, the military, volunteerism, or personal interests. We recognize the value of life experience.
The Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) program allows you to develop a portfolio that details college-level learning in your past. We will review this assessment of your significant accomplishments and award academic credit where appropriate.
Students interested in pursuing credit through CPL should:
- be admitted to UIS,
- have declared a major, and
For undergraduate students, the credit hours earned in EXL 305 counts toward the ECCE or University Requirement. Students seeking to satisfy lower division General Education or other graduation requirements should contact us to discuss how this may be accomplished. Such requests will always need to be approved by students’ major advisors and faculty from the relevant departments.
