Many students choose UIS because of our outstanding professors, variety of academic programs, and small class size. Professors and students get to know each othe, and students have the opportunity to design individualized academic experiences and engage in research with faculty.
We have about 4500 undergraduate and graduate students, of which over 400 are international or non-native speakers of English from around the world including India, Korea, Japan, China, Columbia, Senegal, Chile and Turkey. Many of our students come from Illinois. Because of the large percentage of American students, international students have a wonderful opportunity to experience American culture and practice English skills.
The ESL Program is part of the Office of International Programs and is here to help with any language and culture questions you have.
