admission requirements
ESL classes are open to all multilingual and non-native English speakers, including undergraduate students, graduate students and non-degree seeking community members. We suggest that students have at least an intermediate knowledge of English to fully benefit from our classes.
UIS degree-seeking students may register for ESL classes through online registration.

Students who wish to attend classes but not enroll as degree seeking students are not bound by the same English Language Proficiency Requirement that degree seeking students are. Please contact Dana Atwell for more information about enrolling in ESL classes.
Students who wish to participate in ISPEL Summber Program should have an intermediate level of English or above as demonstrated by high school, undergraduate, or intensive English program transcripts and/or TOEFL or IELTS scores. ISPEL students must also show proof of financial status.
