From IEP to a UIS Degree Program

The Intensive English Program is an academic, intensive English language program designed to help international students develop the language skills necessary for matriculation at UIS.

ALL non-native English speakers including international applicants seeking admission to a UIS degree program are required to show English proficiency as part of the application process. The UIS Office of Admissions accepts the following tests as proof of English proficiency:

  • iTEP Academic Plus (offered at UIS in Levels 4 & 5 of IEP)
  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • PTE-Academic
  • ESL Exit Exam (only offered to conditionally admitted international undergraduates)
