The 2008 UIS Verbal Arts Festival

Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3

On Friday, May 2, poet and professor Dr. Pamela McClure of Columbia College in Columbia, MO addressed a Brookens Auditorium audience at 6:00 pm. Snacks and a social hour were offered after the address, followed by the unveiling of the 2008 edition of The Alchemist Review, which will included readings and short presentations from this year’s contributors.

On Saturday, May 3, Dr. McClure led a poetry workshop beginning at 11:00 am. Writers from the UIS community who were interested in participating in the workshop applied by sending two poems and their contact information to literati@uis.edu.

At 12:30 lunch was provided in the PAC Restaurant.
At 1:30, a Reader’s Theater took place in Brookens Auditorium with plays written, directed, and performed by UIS students.
