Annual Picnic and Open House
HAVE A FIELD DAY AT THE UIS FIELD STATION!
Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon Annual Picnic & Open House
Saturday, October 1
11:30 a.m. – 3:30pm
All faculty and staff are invited to the UIS Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon for an open house and picnic on Saturday, October 1. This event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run through 3:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided, leaving UIS from the PAC teardrop entrance at 10 a.m. and returning from the field station after the event.
If you have never been to the station, or have not been for some time, there’s a lot to do and see. The station itself has a new landscaped area and access along with other field station improvements. The Nature Conservancy has opened a 1.5 mile visitor use site with trails and lookout points. Dickson Mounds Museum has new exhibits featuring Emiquon restoration, science, art, and history.
This is a chance for all UIS faculty and staff to have a great time and to experience our world-class field station. Scheduled activities include lunch, tours in and around the station, kite flying, boat trips (if the weather cooperates), and a tour of the Dickson Mounds Museum.
The Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon is located on route 78/97, just north of Havana. A map is available at http://www.uis.edu/emiquon/about/images/mapToTNCEmiquon.jpg
