Baker A. Sidiquee, Ph.D.
Dr. Siddiquee joined the UIS faculty as associate professor of economics in 1987. Prior to coming to UIS, Dr. Siddiquee taught economics at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Siddiquee holds a B.S. degree with honors in economics (minors: mathematics and statistics) and an M.S. degree in economics from Jahangirnagar University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Manitoba.
At UIS, Dr. Siddiquee has served as chair of the economics department from 1989 to 2000 (except 1995-97), vice-chair of the faculty senate, and a member of the Campus Senate and University Senates Conference. Dr. Siddiquee teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in macroeconomics, international trade and finance, development economics, and econometrics. His current research interests include trade and globalization, foreign investment, exchange rates economics, and financial crises.
