Q: What types of bikes are available for rental?
A:
We have bikes ranging from mountain bikes to racing bikes. Contact the Diversity Center at 217-206-6333, diversity@uis.edu , SLB 22 for availability.

Q: How long do I get to keep the bike?
A: Bikes can be rented for a maximum of 5 days. They must be returned to the Diversity Center by the end of the 5th day anytime between 9 AM to 5 PM from Monday to Friday.

Q: Where can I ride the bikes?
A: Bikes can be used on UIS campus and surrounding area within a 5 mile radius of campus.

Q: What happens if I don’t bring back my bike on time?
A: A charge of $10 per day late fee will be applied. Penalty charges would be accessed as described below.

* Penalty Charges: All participants are financially responsible for any loss or damage of UIS equipment while in their possession. Participation in the Bike Check Out program is voluntary and that the activities associated with the checkout of UIS equipment range from low risk to high risk activities.  Participants agree to return the UIS equipment within the designated checkout period or be responsible for any and all late fees imposed upon failing to return bikes in a timely manner.

In the event of any personal injury or loss/damage to property, no compensation is available from the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, their members, agents, representatives or employees or any of the Board’s units such as Recreational Sports, the Diversity Center, Student Affairs, or the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Participants are responsible to obtain appropriate insurance or pay all charges associated with any injury or other loss or damage that might occur while participating in this program or any activity associated with the checkout and use of UIS equipment.

Q: What happens if I damage a bike?
A: A damaged asset charge will apply based on the damages incurred to the bike.

Q: Availability of Bike racks?
A: UHB, Residence Halls, Apartments, Town Houses, Student Life Building, TRAC, PAC Building.

Q:  What should I do if the bike is stolen while it is checked out to me?
A: Inform Diversity Center Office at 206-6333 and call UIS Police at 206- 7777 immediately about the incident.

Q: Do I need to be a student to check out a bike?
A: No, All currently enrolled students, faculty and staff may check out bikes and are required to show UIS I-card at check out time.
