stories of academic excellence

Why are academics so important?

Simply put, what our students learn in the classroom, during personal conversations with professors, through their own research, and during the course of their applied study terms and internships helps to determine their professional success and personal understanding of so many of life's challenges.

  • We want students to understand content.
  • We want them to be able to use that information to solve problems that come their way and pose new questions.
  • We want them to evaluate new information as it appears and discern what is defensible.
  • We especially want them to be able to communicate their knowledge in a clear, persuasive, appropriate way.
  • And we want them to have a wider knowledge and understanding of the world around them and deeper, wiser insights into their own personalities, values, and convictions.

Academic discipline, rigor, and investigation can help students achieve all these goals.

To prove this claim and learn about how we are gaining excellence, please read the following stories of students, donors, and faculty.
