Nothing changes a life—or a community—like education, and giving to scholarships is one of the best ways that we can help bring about this positive change. Just look at what scholarships do:
Accessible
Scholarships make a UIS education accessible to the many students whose financial constraints make a college education impossible. These are the promising, yet impoverished students who can only dream of attending college but see no way of making their dreams come true. Your gifts to UIS’ scholarship funds can make it possible for those dreams to come true.
Affordable
Scholarships also help to make a UIS education affordable for the many students who plan on attending college, complete entrance requirements, and then discover that paying for college is going to be very difficult. Many graduate with debts. Many spend these crucial years of learning working twenty, thirty, and even forty hours a week. Many have to say no to special learning experiences like study abroad, internships, or field study because they need to stay home and earn money. Your gifts to scholarship funds enhance these 
students’ education enormously.
This support also allows them to take part in extracurricular activities. So much learning at college takes place outside the classroom. We want all our students to benefit from leadership, cultural, and personal enrichment.

Scholarships also help boost the achievement of all students by bringing bright student to UIS. These high-achieving students have many options about where they might attend.
