How you can help scholarships at UIS

If you would like to help with scholarship support, you have three options:

1. Contribute to an already existing fund.

You can give any amount to an already existing fund--$25, $50, $100 or even more. You can also decide to give a smaller amount monthly. We can set up an automatic credit card withdrawal if you would like.

If the fund you choose happens to be a current use fund (see below), your $50 will be added to the money already alloted to the scholarship. If, instead, the fund you choose is an endowed scholarship (see below), your money will be added to the principle and each year it will add money to the scholarship amount.

Either way, your gift adds to the impact of the scholarship you choose, helping a student achieve his or her dreams. Give because of that.

How you do you find a fund?

You can use the Giving Opportunities link at left to find a college, department, or program that interests you. For each, we have included a How You Can Help page that lists the scholarship funds (if any) that relate to each. We also have campus-wide scholarship funds that might interest you.

2. Create a current-use scholarship fund.

This requires only $1000 from you—that's $84 a month. You would choose

  • criteria for the fund—what kind of student you would like to receive the scholarship
  • the name for the fund—either yours or someone else that you would like to honor

Please use the Meet our Gift Officer link at left to go to a page that introduces all our officers. Based on where you would like your scholarship to go, contact one of these gift officers. He or she will help you set up your very own named scholarship fund.

In future years, of course, we hope you will continue to fund the scholarship.

3. Create an endowed scholarship fund.

This requires at least $25,000 from you, but because this money never gets spent (the scholarship award comes from the interest on this money), your named scholarship fund will continue into the future.

Again, contact one of our gift officers to help you set this fund up. The link at left will introduce them all to you.
