Your Gifts Matter, Now More Than Ever

Annual funds, which are usually used within the year they are received, help to keep the university running on a day-to-day basis. A UIS student doing research in a chemistry lab

In fact, the true cost of a degree from UIS is nearly double what tuition pays.

Because of this, annual giving is crucial to our students' continued success.

What do you use my gifts for?

It would be impossible to list the many and varied needs your gifts meet on campus, but here are just a few examples:

  • Supplies for science labs
  • Lectures and presentations by renowned speakers
  • Support for students doing service learning in other countries
  • Campus wide training on issues like safety and emergency response

...and the list goes on and on.

Your annual gifts are absolutely vital to UIS. Every $25 you give, every $50 (and yes, of course, every $10,000!) adds to our ability to provide an excellent education to our students.

Thank you so much to all our wonderful donors.

How We Raise Annual Gifts

Growing annual giving is a top priority of the Campaign. We raise funds primarily through three means:

If you haven’t recently received a direct mail appeal or phone call, email us at giftinfo@uis.edu or call 217-206-6058.

  • Mail appeals:

We use our letters to share stories of special students and faculty, alert you to needs, keep you informed about programs that might be of interest to you, and remind youIf you do not want to receive direct mail from us, please let us know. We will be happy to comply with your requests. of how important you are to the progress and wellbeing of UIS.

If you do not want to receive our letters, please let us know by sending an email to giftinfo@uis.edu or calling us at 217.206.6058. We care very much about working with you for the good of the university, and if you would prefer to get your news of UIS through other means, we will be happy to comply.

  • Personal phone calls

Student callers are a vital part of the University of Illinois at Springfield’s ongoing development activities. Student callers can update you on life at UIS, as well as important priorities that you may care about and want to support.

Best of all, they’re here to let you know how much we appreciate your contributions to the University of Illinois A picture of students walking on campus with the quote: "An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." Benjamin Franklinat Springfield.

Once again, because we care about working with you, if you would prefer not to receive calls from students, please let us know. We will be disappointed not to have the chance to talk with you, but will nevertheless remove your name from the call list at your request.

  • Email appeals:

Email appeals are nimble and inexpensive. We use them for late-breaking news, high interest items, and new opportunities. Not all emails include requests for money, but many do.

We are always looking for that special match between your interests and our students' needs, because we know this will bring a great deal of satisfaction to both you and the students who benefit.

Whenever appropriate, please forward our emails to other UIS alumni and friends whom you think might be interested. We appreciate your help. As with direct mail, if you would prefer not to receive any emails from us, please let us know.
