leadership for life residential wing
How to Make Living On Campus Even Better!
UIS is now offering a very special opportunity to undergraduate students living on campus--The Leadership for Life Service Wing in Lincoln Residence Hall. Students living on this wing become stronger leaders while contributing service on campus and throughout the greater Springfield community.
You can contribute to this special initiative through your gifts. (To learn more about specific needs, please use the How You Can Help link at left.) Donate
Here's How The Initiative Works
- Students apply to live on the floor.
- Once students move onto the floor--
They take part in seminars, led by leadership experts.
They do service on campus and throughout the community.
They take part in retreats where they forge bonds with each other while learning more about leadership.
They travel--with your help--to regional and national leadership conferences.
- Through their example and leadership, students throughout the UIS campus become involved in similar service activities.
All of this is under the direction of Kelly Thompson, our excellent director of the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Office.
We have the students, the residence assistants, the wing itself. We have the service opportunities, the experts' names, and excellent plans for seminars and retreats.
The One Thing We're Missing....
Of course...it's money.
- We want to be able to compensate the speakers' expenses and fees. We have to pay for the retreat location and food.
- We want to send students to regional and national leadership conferences.
- We want to assist students to pay any expenses they might incur when doing service activities.
- We even wish we could provide some housing scholarships for our students.
Please consider making a gift to our Leadership for Life Fund. Your gift will make a lasting difference through the students and activities you support.
