recreational sports

UIS students on the quad playing badmintonHow important IS recreation?

According to the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, students who take part in recreational sports are more likely to stay in college, gain success, and express satisfaction in their college experience.

Life just seems better after a little exercise, some fun with friends, and a healthy mental break from challenges like algebraic equations and the intricacies
of Jungian psychology.

You can help students have access to this healthy outlet by giving to the Campus Recreational Sports Fund. Donate

A UIS student playing badminton on the quadFor fun and health

We have lots of options for students at UIS. They can lift weights and exercise in our Fitness Center or check out equipment like canoes and tennis rackets for some informal fun. They can also sign up for intramural leagues in badminton, flag football, sand volleyball, and many other sports.

Learning for Life

In our non-credit clinics, workshops, and clubs, students can develop lifetime fitness and leisure skills through activities like tennis, fencing, yoga, kickbox aerobics, and golf. And for students who just need to get away for a while, we have off-campus day and weekend excursions for hiking, ice skating, professional sports games, and other events.
