FAST FACTS ABOUT THE MUSIC PROGRAM

  • UIS Chorus performingFunds that target the music program:
  • Our current needs:
    • Scholarships: Students at UIS have to work (often literally for their supper), which does not leave much time for the Drummersenriching and inspiring benefits that
      music gives to their education. Because
      of this SCHOLARSHIPS ARE OUR GREATEST NEED. Please consider adding your gift to the merit awards or scholarship fund above. You might also consider giving a current-use scholarship, which costs $86/month or $1000/year. You get to name the fund and choose the criteria.
    • Support for offering a music minor, Homecoming paradesomething that will enhance and expand the academic impact of her role at UIS.  A music minor will require a
      colleague who can teach music courses.
    • Find larger practice facilities and better pianos (“that won’t go out of tune so quickly”).  She would especially like a grand piano for performances.
    • Find performance space.  Dr. Graf would love to have a place where she can keep a grand piano rather than having to rent one for every performance.
    • A graduate assistant for the music program to help with the music library, and a plethora of other tasks.
    • Sharon Graf directing chorus A better-staffed music technology lab.  The music program needs a staff member who can help bring about all the amazing possibilities of the lab.
