funds that provide support for liberal studies

MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR LIBERAL STUDIES STUDENTS

Your gift in any amount to the funds below provide support for Liberal Studies students. You can use the Donate button to give online.

Please notice that UIS has no scholarships that specifically target Liberal Studies students. If you are interested in being the first to create such a scholarship, please contact our office. Thank you!

Liberal Studies Department Fund Donate

This fund provides money for special opportunities or extraordinary needs.

  • Faculty and students can travel to a conference to present their research.
  • Faculty can take part in a special opportunity to update their skills.  Professors need to be aware of the latest developments in their field, so that they can pass this knowledge on to their students.
  • The department can purchase special equipment, test materials, resources, or training modules to help our students attain success and achieve their goals.

These activities and others like them enrich our students immeasurably, enhancing the education they receive at UIS—but we could not do any of them without the discretionary money given to this fund.

Tom DoubetTom and Sue Doubet Scholarship Fund Donate

Tom Doubet (MA '81 Indiv. Option) already had a bachelor's degree in agriculture and a master's degree in agricultural economics when he moved to Springfield to take a job in state government. He decided to enroll at Sangamon State for a second master's and he chose the university's Individual Option as his focus because it allowed him to study what most interested him: fair management. (You can read more about his unique program here.) Following her degree program, Sue Doubet (BA '79 Environments & People) worked for many years at the Environmental Protection Agency in springfield, primarily managing the cleanup of hazardous waste sites. Always appreciative of their experience at Sangamon State, Tom and Sue have decided to fund Liberal Studies' very first scholarship. They are particularly interested in helping a student with financial need. You can add to this scholarship fund in any amount; your gift will be added to the award each year.

Currently, the Liberal Studies Department does not have any targeted scholarships. You can be the first to create such a fund—either a current use scholarship or an endowed scholarship—that targets the students you specify in the Liberal Studies Department.  Use the links above to learn more about these scholarship opportunities.

As the principle donor of this new scholarship, you would get to name the fund and establish the selection criteria.
