Current Needs:

  • Scholarships: UIS currently does not have ANY scholarships that target chemistry students. THIS IS OUR GREATEST NEED. We want to bring great students to UIS and help them achieve their dreams of a career in chemistry. You can create your own named fund.
  • Laboratory needs for updating and maintaining instruments. You can help meet this need by giving to the K-Fund.
    • 13mm KBr die set with 2 SS anvils & assorted paper inserts for micro sample $429.00
    • Zero-background holder for powder X-ray diffractometer: $400
    • Box of ten probes for atomic force microscope: $500
  • Research Support
    1) Send an undergraduate student to a regional American Chemical Society meeting to present their research results for about $500
    2) Send an undergraduate student to a national American Chemical Society meeting to present their research results: $1000
  • Faculty development grants that will allow our professors to attend and present at professional conferences; they stay current in their field and share what UIs is doing in chemistry.
