UIS peoria Alumni Memorial Scholarship

Thanks to you--our wonderful Peoria friends and alumni--we now have a Peoria Scholarship for Peoria students!
Your gifts have shown the pride and appreciation UIS students in Peoria have for the educational opportunities available to us through UIS, especially with the newly opened Peoria Center downtown on Adams Street.
With your help, the Peoria Chapter of the UIS Alumni Association has now raised over $1000 for our new scholarship—the UIS Peoria Alumni Memorial Scholarship. Created specifically for UIS Peoria program students, this scholarship will be available to Peorio students during the fall semester 2010.

Your gifts will continue to count! We can make the scholarship larger, and if enough gifts come in, we might even have enough for two $1000 awards. We could also make this year's award larger--or of course, we could always get started on next year's scholarship. Next year, we will again need your help to raise money for the scholarship again.
Because it’s a Peoria scholarship, we can both help Peoria students and honor Peoria alumni at the same time.
Christine (Reynolds) Ashburn: First to be honored
For the 2010 academic year, we will be honoring Christine (Reynolds) Ashburn. Christine earned the Bachelor’s in Management (2000) and was in the very first MBA cohort program (2003). She was a loyal friend and enthusiastic student who took great pride in her degrees from UIS.
Unfortunately Christine lost a courageous battle with cancer in February, 2008. It seemed appropriate to us that we honor her memory by dedicating the scholarship for Peoria Center students in her name this year. To further honor her, we are collecting stories of Christine's kindness and gracious spirit. Add yours to one of Susan's memories.
