brookens library's renovation

Brookens LibraryLIBRARY RENOVATION

We have big plans for renovation—and it’s about time!

Brookens was UIS’ first permanent building, and it’s a fine place--a landmark that we will always be proud of. But all buildings eventually need updates, and it’s time for ours.

We need money for renovation. Please contact our office if you're interested in this transformative opportunity (contact information above).

You could also give to the Brookens Library Fund. When you give online, tell us your intent for your gift in the Comment Box. Donate

HOW WE'RE GOING TO IMPROVE BROOKENS

Our newly renovated building will offer patrons many more inviting spaces for collections and user services that showcase new technologies. Equally important will be improvements in

  • HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems),
  • lighting,
  • acoustics,
  • furnishings, and
  • life safety.

Many of these features are outdated and present difficulties to library users.
We also want to continue complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act so that we can ensure accessibility to all our students and patrons.

Before we can begin renovation, we need an architectural program and concept drawings—the first steps toward a complete renovation of Brookens.
And then the actual renovation will start.

For all of it, we will welcome your support.
