FUNDS

If you would like to support UIS' award-winning online program, you can give to one of the funds below. Your gift will help us serve students around the world.

SBC/OTEL (Office of Technology Enhanced Learning) Fund Donate

Grace Brorstrom Oakley Scholarship Donate

Grace Brorstrom Oakley dedicated much of her time to encouraging women and economically disadvantaged persons to achieve a secondary education. Before terminal illness claimed her life in the early’ 90s, Ms. Brorstrom Oakley had been instrumental in establishing several scholarships for this target population. The Grace Brorstrom Oakley Scholarship was established in 1994, by her son, UIS Research Profesor, Burks Oakley, II. Applicants for the scholarship must be part- or full-time, academically sound undergraduate students enrolled in an online degree program. In continuance of Ms. Oakley’s life mission, preference is given to single mothers who have returned to college after being out for a period of time.

Burks Oakley II Distinguished Online Teaching Award Donate

Burks is also an award-winning, world-renowned online learning expert. These two men have a lot to do with UIS' stellar ongoing success in online learning. They began these funds as just one more way to improve UIS' program; when you give to the funds, you'll be in great company!

Mayadas Scholarship Donate

Ray Schroeder, director of the Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service (COLRS) at the University of Illinois Springfield is the recipient of the inaugural A. Frank Mayadas Leadership Award. The award is the highest individual recognition offered by the Sloan Consortium and was voted on by a committee of leaders in higher education. Because the scholarship will be given to a student who exhibits extraordinary leadership while taking an online class, your gifts to this fund both honors Ray Schroeder and the student who receives the award. Please add your support.

Ray Schroeder Online Learning Scholarship Fund Donate

Ray Schroeder is UIS' award-winning, world renowned director of UIS' online program. A rare visionary, the kind who combines brilliant ideas with meticulous execution, Ray inspires his OTEL staff and the many professors at UIS who teach in the online program. Under Ray's leadership, UIS has been awarded three Outstanding Achievement Awards by the Sloan Consortium in 2002, 2003 and 2006. No other university in the country has received more outstanding achievement awards. UIS was recognized with an Institution-Wide Excellence Award in 2007 and the Ralph E. Gomory Award for Quality Online Education in 2008.

You could also give in support of the following teaching award, which honors the high standard that our UIS faculty have set for online teaching. The award goes to a professor who has done a particularly good job teaching online.

Create your own scholarship

You can also create your own named fund--either a current use scholarship or an endowed scholarship--that targets online students. Go to the scholarships section for more information. As the principle donor, you would get to name the fund and establish the selection criteria.
