how you can help bring improvements to the auditorium

For anyone who loves the Auditorium and the cultural richness and excitement that it brings to Springfield, we offer many opportunities for you to bring new excellence to the facilities. To support these efforts, please give to the Sangamon Auditorium Special Projects Funds. Tell us your intention for the gift in the Comment Box. Donate

Lighting in the AuditoriumLighting System

The lighting system in the theatre is outdated and has failed several times. The company that installed the equipment no longer exists, so it is costly to get replacement parts and find someone who can do the repairs. We need a completely new, state-of-the-art system.

Center Sound Cluster with Winch

Our center sound cluster can no longer handle the demands put on it by the programs that we bring into the Auditorium. It is far below the high standards that we try to achieve in the Auditorium. The winch would make it possible to remove it and put the touring company’s center speaker system in if desired.

Line Arrays L & R with Winches

Costly to rent, a quality house sound system will save money and time over the years and permit us to serve ourKnotted ropes customers better.

Upgrade the Sound Reinforcement Position

Although digital boards are becoming smaller and lighter, some sound control boards weigh upwards of half a ton. The boards should be placed by an elevator system rather than dead lifted into place by stage hands.

Replace Banners

These are the red and blue curtains that surround the theatre for acoustics. They are what make the acoustics in the theatre so good. They have now become worn and are detracting from the look of the space.

New Pit Seating

This is the portable seating that is set in the orchestra pit area when there is no band in the pit. Existing seating is beginning to fail, and the seats are unattractive. They need to be replaced.

Pam Reyhan, UIS friend and donorHand Rails in the Auditorium: THIS NEED HAS BEEN MET!

Thanks to Pam Reyhan, UIS friend and donor, the Auditorium now has hand rails at the end of most rows. These help our patrons move easily up and down the stairs of the auditorium, making their attendance at Auditorium events more enjoyable.

Thank you, Pam! Your generosity will be appreciated by the Auditorium's many patrons for years and years to come.
