Moving Forward

So much is happening with the UIS Prairie Stars! We have

  • UIS students at a basketball game with Chancellor Ringeisena new, bigger arena
  • more spectators
  • new, exciting opponents
  • greater visibility

The Prairie Stars are entering NCAA Division II status, bringing much greater visibility to our athletic programs and, soon, added sports.

To that end, we are now members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, a top Division II conference both athletically and academically.  Being part of this conference means more exciting games against teams with greater recognition among your potential customers.

We also have a new athletic facility, UIS' TRAC (The Recreation and Athletic Center) which opened in 2007 with a 3000-seat arena and the potential for over 100,000 spectators annually at UIS events.

The Same Success

But with all these exciting changes, one thing remains the same--our students' success, athletically, academically, and personally.

You can read more about our students' academic success and our commitment to their character development.

  • We have the players. The Recreation and Athletic Center at UIS
  • We have the coaches.
  • We have great facilities.

Now we need the support of our great fan base in the Springfield community.
