The Heart of the University Campus
The University of Illinois Springfield is building a Student Union, and you can have a role in this exciting new project.
The focal point of campus and student life, the Student Union will become the heart of the university campus, a place where students, along with faculty and staff, can spend time with friends, collaborate on academic and leadership activities, and create an inclusive and welcoming campus community.
Please make a gift today in support of this important addition to campus.

Student Activism and Enthusiasm
Students agree on the importance of this building. In fact, students have led the drive to bring a Student Union to campus. They realize as much as anyone how much a Student Union will enhance life on campus, and they have actually approved a student fee that will help pay for half the cost of the building. That’s commitment!
A Strategic Design for a Landmark Building
Plans for the new Student Union are almost complete. Designed by Dewberry Architects from Peoria, Illinois, working with Workshop Architects from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Union will be a signature building and an architectural attraction for people throughout Central Illinois.

The total cost of the building will be $21.75 million. As a result of a recent referendum which students passed, student fees will cover about half the cost. Because state funds cannot be used for the remainder of this vital project, however, UIS also needs $8 million in private donor support for the project to be realized.
