Make a DIfference for UIS’ International Students
UIS has over 300 international students. They come from Pakistan, India, and other countries of Asia, as well as Turkey, Latin America, and European countries.
These “citizen diplomats” provide an important cultural and international perspective to the UIS and surrounding community,
and the university is fortunate to have them.
You can help us provide a welcoming place with services that help their transition by giving to the International Student Services Fund:
What Your Gifts Will Do
- Help fund the annual International Festival, which is free to the public, but still carries a considerable cost. Your gifts of $100 to $500 will help pay for ethnic food, decorations, such as flags, set up costs, and other expenses for the Festival
- Sponsor an off-campus experience for international students: A gift of $500 to $1,000 will allow us to rent a bus and purchase tickets for an off-campus cultural, social, or educational experience for UIS’ international students.
- Support the International House at UIS: This is a new living-learning community at UIS that offers students an immersion experience of other countries and cultures. Your gifts will help provide special experiences, events, and excursions.
Another Way You Can Help
- Serve as a Host Family to an international student: You can meet with an international student, invite the student to dinner or holiday celebrations, take part in cultural events, or just relax in easy conversation with a student from another country. Learn more by contacting Rick Lane or going to the Office of International Student Services Host Family website where you will find an application.
