Campus Radio: The Prairie Star
UIS’ student radio station, providing a learning laboratory for students, an outlet for campus and community dialogue, a means of artistic expression, a forum for social consciousness, and an opportunity for personal enrichment.
Globalizing the Liberal Arts and Sciences
Providing students with global experiences and understanding, through service learning
opportunities, study-abroad experiences, collaborative online classes with universities in other countries, and more. You can support this effort by making a gift to the College fund and designating your gift in the comment box
At UIS, we want to give students everypossibility
to put hands to their learning. In the sciences and social science fields, this is particularly important, and we have several funds that specifically target this initiatives.
Theater and Visual Arts Facilities
Our arts programs have been growing dramatically over the last few years, but we need practice facilities, instruments, and even better performance facilities. Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon
UIS now has its own field station, located at the site of The Nature Conservancy’s restoration of the floodplain along a reach of the Illinois River. Named for Alfred and Barbara Therkildsen, the field station givs students a living laboratory for biological and environmental research.
