Make a Difference for Patrons of Brookens Library
Brookens was the first permanent building at UIS and no wonder. The Library provides crucial learning tools and instruction in today’s information-driven society.
If you share a love for books and other information resources (Brookens has MANY more resources than books), and you would like to support this important university and community asset, please give to one of the funds listed below.
In addition to these funds, Brookens also has a special initiative for a library renovation, which you can support, as well as the very popular Friends of the Library, which the bibliophiles among us (you know who you are!) can always find a welcome.

Gifts to this fund provide special places, study corners, etc. at Brookens Library.
This fund was established in memory of the late David Everson, associate chancellor and professor of political studies at UIS, who wrote some half-dozen political murder mysteries before his death in 1999. Gifts to this fund provide library materials for the Capital Scholars program at UIS.
Gifts to this fund provide children’s literature materials for Brookens Library. This fund is in honor of Jacqueline D. Jackson, Professor Emerita, English. She has written numerous books for children and books on creative writing such as Turn Not Pale, Beloved Snail, The Endless Pavement, and The Round Barn. In the picture at right you can see her with one of her former classes–they were reading Lord of the Rings, and they were on a quest.
This supports an annual lecture.
The Brookens Library ONE BOOK, ONE UIS program aims to enrich the campus at the University of Illinois Springfield. Together, everyone taking part in the program reads the same book. This gives students, staff and faculty the opportunity to engage and interact with one another through the exploration of ideas and themes found in the reading. Special events and programs, book discussions and other activities help the UIS campus grow closer together as participants learn about themselves, one another, and the world around them. Your gift will help to enable this transformative program.
