Giving to your own university
You Know Better than Anyone
You, more than our alumni, friends in the community, even more than faculty and staff, know how many students miss opportunities because for financial reasons.
- Your friend did the research, prepared the report, and was invited to present her research at a regional or national conference. But she can't go because...no money.
- A group of friends has decided to head down to New Orleans to help with the rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. They have the drive, they have the energy, they have the support of the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Office, but can't go...no money.
- The UIS Journal needs a software update. It will add speed, effects, and new capabilities to the design staff, but they can't purchase it...no money.
- Your classmate is the first in his family to attend college, and you see him every classday come without books. You finally find a way to ask, and he'd love to have them, but...no money.
On your own, you probably can't pay the entire cost for any of these, but did you know that you can add any amount--even as low as $10--to a fund on campus? Your $10 adds up with other donors' gifts to help make these experiences or purchase a reality.
A Number of Significance
Students DO give to UIS. Look around you. Some of the students in your classroom, on your floor, around you in the library probably donate money to help their favorite causes or activities.
You might want to give in honor of your graduation year: $20.09, $20.10, $20.11. And--the great news--you'll be able to watch the difference your gift makes first hand. How great to hear your friends' experiences in New Orleans or to see your classmate with his own books!
How to Make a Gift
- If you know the name of the fund you want to give to, use the Give Now button at left to find the safe online giving page. Don't be concerned that this online giving page is on the University of Illinois Foundation page. The UIF helps us collect money safely and in compliance to tax rules. Your money will go to the fund you choose.
- If you know what program you want to give to, you can use the link at left to Send Us Your Question. We'll make sure you find the right place.
- If you would rather write a check, you can write the check to the University of Illinois foundation and send the check to our office,
