This year, in our Faculty and Staff Campaign, we celebrated the fact that--
WE GROW THE BEST AT UIS!
Education, like a productive harvest, doesn't happen overnight. A great education requires planning ahead to plant a healthy variety of ideas, time to allow growth and perspective, careful cultivation of strengths and skills, and finally patience to let all of that mature in the student.
Of course, at UIS we pride ourselves on our size (no huge agribusiness concern here!) because it allows such close personal attention to our students, with ample support services that help "grow" a more complete (could we say "organic"?) graduate.
Analogies aside, all this costs money. Through your gifts, you help to make everyone's efforts on behalf of the students a success.
Each year, UIS has a month-long campaign with a great kickoff event, plus promotions and prizes throughout the month, all designed to encourage faculty and staff giving and to celebrate our many wonderful colleagues who contribute to UIS students and programs.
Above, you can link to a slide show of this year's Kickoff. We had a great time. Thanks so much to all the people who contributed.
You can also see a link above to some Frequently Asked Questions about the campaign as a whole.
This past year, 2007-2008, 321 UIS employees contributed to the university. That's 43.7%--a significant growth in participation from the previous year when 41.99% of employees.
Can we do it again?
We think we can. We are still hoping to reach up to 45% this year--or more! Remember, it's not the size of the gift that shows this growth, rather the number of faculty and staff who give.
The Campaign is over for another year, but any gift you give all fiscal year (August 2008 through July 2009) will help us meet this goal.
All types of annual gifts are be accepted, including checks; payroll deduction; MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express; in-kind gifts such as art, books, supplies, etc.; and gifts of stock and/or real estate.
