Fortunately, the computer consulting firm Levi, Ray and Shoup had funded a scholarship at UIS for computer science students, and today, Derek has graduated and is a systems analyst at State Farm.
Martin Miller wanted to teach math, but...
- he needed to keep working fulltime and
- he could not move to Springfield.
Thanks to UIS’ online math certificate program, funded in large part by SBC (now AT&T), Martin is now teaching high school math in Palmyra, Illinois—meeting a critical need in our society that SBC was able to see coming.
