BRILLIANT FUTURES: why now?

UIS Students

A remarkable time to be at UIS

  • We're fourth best in the Midwest! This was our very first year that we were eligible to be ranked, and US News and World Report has ranked us fourth best public university--master's category--in the Midwest.
  • First in Illinois: Even better, we are the BEST public university--master's category in Illinois. This is a wonderful affirmation of what we are offering our students.
  • Award-winning online learning: Our online programs keep winning awards for educational excellence. This year UIS won the Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Teaching & Learning Programming from the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) and the 2008 Ralph E. Gomory Award for Quality Online Education.

Please note that these are awards for teaching and learning, making this another affirmation of what we focus on at UIS--teachers who know their subjects and know their students...by name.

  • Continued excellence across programs : Our College of Business and Management (CBM) has recently received the most prestigious accreditation for business colleges, our teaching education programs continues having 100% placement, our computer programs grow each year, and our public affairs programs capitalize on our location in the state capital.

CBM joins the many other accredited within UIS, including (but not limited to!) the Human Services program and the Social Work departments in the College of Education and Human Services, the online Master's of Public Health program within the College of Public Affairs and Administration, and of course the university as a whole.

Thank You!

Our achievements and incredible progress have been possible because Campaign Goalsof the generosity of many alumni, faculty, parents, and friends of our university. We are grateful for your support and for what you have helped our university and our students become.

That’s what happens when you give someone a chance—you create something bigger than yourself, something which keeps on growing.

And now we look to you in our boldest, biggest effort yet.

The Brilliant Futures Campaign will not only help us sustain this momentum, but fulfill our vision of becoming one of the top five small public liberal arts universities in the nation.

Achieving this goal is a shared responsibility, and we’ll need everyone’s participation. We hope that you’ll join us by making the size of your gift commensurate with the ambition of the Campaign.

Together, we can create Brilliant Futures.
