FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Faculty and Staff
Campaign?
The Faculty and
Staff Campaign invites all faculty and staff to show their
support for UIS by making annual gifts to their favorite
initiatives or departments on campus. Gifts made to any area of
campus during the fiscal year move us closer to our goal. A
special campaign is carried out during March.
When does the Faculty and Staff
Campaign start? When does it conclude?
The Campaign will
be in high visibility beginning at the official Kick-Off
Celebration on Wednesday, March 1 and will continue until the
Wrap Up Celebration in early April. Volunteer employees will be
encouraged to conduct personal contacts and host department/unit
events during this period.
If I give to the Faculty and
Staff Campaign, where will my gift go?
You can direct
your gift to any area of UIS that is important to you! There
are hundreds of accounts at UIS to which donors can make
contributions. If you would like to make a gift to an area of
campus that does not yet have a gift account, we can create an
account so your gift gets used the way you want it to. Just
contact Teresa Szabo at 6-6058.
Can I designate my gift to more
than one area?
Certainly. Just
indicate the area and amount for each designation on your gift
card, or when you make your gift online.
How much will I have to give to
be a part of the Campaign?
The goal of the
Faculty and Staff Campaign is __% participation! There is no
specific dollar amount required. Your gift of any amount
will help us move closer to our goal.
How will my gift be used?
100% of your gift
goes to the fund you designate.
Do previously arranged gifts
count? For instance, I already give to Brookens Library through
payroll deduction. Do I need to make an additional gift to be
included in the campaign?
Previously
arranged gifts do count. All gifts given this fiscal
year (since July 1, 2006) will be included in the campaign
totals. However, the Faculty and Staff Campaign provides a
wonderful opportunity for increasing an existing payroll
deduction arrangement, and/or making an additional gift.
What about gifts I have already
made? I gave an auction item to the Staff Scholarship in
November. Do I need to make an additional gift to be included
in the campaign?
You do not have to
give an additional gift. All gifts given this fiscal year
(since July 1, 2006) will be included in the campaign totals.

I already work here. Why should
I give?
As people who work
here on a daily basis, we know the needs of UIS. We are keenly
aware of areas that are in need of financial support. In many
cases, we are aware of needs that are not obvious to the
external community.
We are fortunate
to have had a giving rate of 41 percent at UIS. This is good
for a university of our size, but we can always do better. With
your support, we can solicit higher financial backing from
private companies, corporations and foundations that look to see
how each institution is supported by its employees, retirees and
alumni.
What types of gifts “count?”
All types of
annual gifts count for the campaign. Common gift types include:
·
Outright
gifts: cash, checks, payroll deduction, and credit card gifts.
·
Shares of
stock: in publicly traded companies.
·
Gifts of
personal property: such as books, art, jewelry, professional
equipment, auction items and other items may be given.
·
Gifts of
real property
