Writing Overview

CTL offers Writing resourcesOur writing resources provide academic assistance for the writing of effective essays and research papers.

We serve writing students at every level through one-to-one tutoring, workshops, and requested presentations where students learn together outside of formal classes.

**Please Note**

While the CTL writing staff is more than willing to help with most any type or level of writing,
we are not an editing service
, and will not simply proofread your paper for grammatical
or citation mistakes. Rather, our tutors will walk you through primary concerns such as argument, logic, organization, clarity, and flow, before then working on secondary concerns including grammar and mechanics. Please keep this in mind as you make appointments with us.

ENG 101 and 102 Assistance

The CTL writing TAs assist ENG 101 and 102 by attending the class once a week and helping the instructor with in-class writing activities. One writing TA is assigned to each ENG 101 or 102 section.

Midterm and Finals Help Houses

Prior to midterms and finals weeks, the CTL writing staff offers two day walk-in writing assistance. Students from in all courses seeking writing assistance are encouraged to come to receive one-to-one tutoring. Help House times are posted closer to the time of the event via Campus Announcements and flyers throughout campus.

CTL Online Workshop Series

Each semester, the writing center offers a variety of Online Workshops covering topics related to writing, critical thinking, and grammar/mechanics. Workshops are conducted through Blackboard Collaborate, which means you can learn in the comfort of your own home – sometimes these workshops even count as Extra Credit – check with your instructor to see if this is a viable option for you and your class!

Stay up to date through Campus Announcements about which workshops are forthcoming, and feel free to contact the CTL by email or by phone for more information!
