I am a sophomore Biology major. I am a SI leader for MAT 121. I enjoy shopping and mentoring youth. I am a member of Sassy Intellectual Sisters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Special Olympics Illinois. I am also a member of Habitat for Humanity.

I am a Senior CAP student majoring in Chemistry. I am looking to pursue a career in the medical field, no specialization yet. I enjoy sports, hanging out with my friends, and of course… chemistry. I am looking forward to a great semester as well as helping many students succeed in their courses. Family and having fun are very important to me so I guarantee this semester will be a fun one! I am from a small town south of Springfield and have two brothers, one older and one younger. My goal for this semester is to help the students achieve their goals as well as helping them get the grades they want. I am very persistent about everything, no matter how long it takes!

My name is Ellen Braley. I am a junior at UIS. I am majoring in Biology with a Chemistry minor and Pre-Med specialty. I love spending time with my family and everything outdoors. I will do my very best to assist every student as much as I can.

I am a junior Chemistry major hoping to specialize in the medical field. I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. I am also a member of the UIS tennis team and I enjoy playing soccer. I love solving problems and being able to help others with chemistry. I am a senior triple majoring in Political Science, Legal Studies, and Communications. I am also a Capitol Scholars honors student and an English tutor for CAP. I will be starting law school next fall with a concentration in constitutional law. I spend my free time traveling, hanging with friends and family, and dabbling in photography.

My name is Justin Sawyer. I am a junior majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. I enjoy riding my bike, playing music, and hanging out with my wife and my dogs. I am studying to take the MCAT in April and hope to attend medical school after graduation from UIS. This is my first semester with the CTL, and I am looking forward to it!
Hello! My name is Yiman Li. Now I am a senior majoring in Accounting and will be pursuing my graduate program in the Fall of 2014 with a concentration in Accountancy. I was honored to get inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma this May and I am looking forward to assisting whoever has accounting and economic related problems. Hello! My name is Hayley Beran. I am a senior, majoring in Global Studies and minoring in Public Health. I am applying to get a Master’s in Statistics in the fall of 2014. I am a huge fan of Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Friends, and The West Wing.
After changing my major multiple times, I have decided to pursue a Math major with a minor in Accounting. This is my second year with the CTL as a
math peer tutor. It is my second year at UIS. I enjoy seeing family, friends, and eating (especially D’Arcy’s Pint).

I am a senior chemistry major, biology minor. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I hope to attend medical school. I enjoy watching sports, playing sports (Go UIS men’s tennis!), reading, and learning new things. This is my second semester as a science tutor for the CTL and I look forward to assisting students by answering any science-related questions they may have.

I am a second year graduate student studying Human Development Counseling. This is also my second year as a Writing TA in the Center for Teaching and Learning. I am excited about the 2013-2014 academic year and am looking forward to meeting new students and assisting them in meeting their writing goals. Outside of UIS and the CTL, I enjoy reading, taking pictures, and spending time with family and friends.

I am a second year graduate student in the Communications department. After a stint in newspaper journalism, I hope to pursue a career in Public Relations/Marketing for charities and not-for-profit organizations. In my spare time, I enjoy bicycling, golfing, reading, singing, and traveling.

I am a senior majoring in English and minoring in Psychology and Secondary Education. This is my second semester working at the CTL as a Writing Peer Tutor. I enjoy any type of music, hanging out iwth friends, and any book I can get my hands on.

I am a second year Public Administration and Practical Politics graduate student here at UIS. I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Political Science in 2012. Over the years I have worked in local government offices, volunteered on campaigns, and lobbied in the state legislature last year. In addition to serving as a writing tutor I will be doing a research internship with the Social Security Administration, this semester. Most of my free time is spent attending concerts, visiting friends at other universities, and getting myself involved in awesome adventures!

Hey everyone! My name is Michael Lotspeich. I am a pre-law sophomore in the Capital Scholars program pursuing a dual-bachelors in Social Work and Political Sciences. Hello everyone, I am a TEP student hoping to one day teach high school English. Here at UIS, I am regularly involved in non-sanctioned pickle ball and badminton matches. My hobbies include watching YouTube clips of my idol, comedian Greg Giraldo, pulling weeds from my mother’s flower garden, listening to friends make fun of my van, pretending to be included in the social circles of birds frequenting my feeder, and nightly backgammon matches against my father.

My name is Brady Sullivan and this is my third year as the Academic Skills TA. I am looking forward to helping students on an individual basis as well as giving campus-wide presentations on study skills, note-taking, learning styles, and test anxiety. I am a Master’s student in Human Development Counseling and I will be starting my practicum this semester. I am looking forward to working in foster care as well as assisting an Alzheimer’s art therapy group.
