Make-up/Online Testing Procedures
Faculty Guidelines
The CTL test proctoring service is for make-up and online course tests only. CTL test hours are listed below excluding holidays and breaks.
Please coordinate with the CTL staff to ensure that our four testing rooms will be able to service your needs for the number of students you have taking the same test during the scheduled days of the test.
Students must allow themselves the allotted time to take the exam within our testing hours.
CTL Test Hours
Fall and Spring Semester:
- Monday—Thursday— 8:30 am—7:00 pm
- Friday - 8:30 am—4:30 pm
Summer Semester:
- Monday—Thursday— 7:00 am—4:30 pm
Test Delivery Instructions
- Faculty must fill out the test instruction form in the following ways:
- hard copy form available at BRK 460
- electronic form. (Webtools is not set up yet to have the form send an uploaded test to the office's email address).
- After completing the form, deliver the test at least 24 hours prior to the test date in the following ways:
- email to ctl@uis.edu
- campus mail to BRK 460
- drop off at BRK 460.
Faculty members are responsible for delivering tests to the CTL at least 24 hours prior to the test date. To insure the secure handling of the tests, faculty members should use a sealed envelope marked confidential.
Student Behavioral Guidelines
Faculty members are responsible for communicating the following student behavioral guidelines.
While testing, if evidence is found or an observation has been made in regards to cheating, testing will be immediately stopped and all materials confiscated. Testing staff will notify the instructor at the time of the incident. Thereafter, decisions regarding further action, associated with cheating, will be deferred to the instructor.
Behaviors, during testing, that will involve the student’s dismissal from the CTL testing center:
- Using a cell phone
- Using unauthorized aids (such as IPod, recording devices)
- Giving or receiving assistance
- Disturbing other testers or behaving inappropriately
- Communicating about the test with any person other than the test proctor or testing center staff
- Removing any part of the test
- Not turning in scrap paper
- Not turning in all testing materials
- Working longer than permitted
- Refusing to adhere to faculty directions
Student's will be disciplined according to the University’s Student Disciplinary Code.

The CTL does not have the ability or capacity to evaluate individual cases, in regards to test anxiety, English comprehension, or diagnosing disabilities.
The CTL does not have the ability or capacity to administer a test to an entire class.
