I am a junior accountancy major with an economics minor. I am very interested in both accounting and economics and I enjoy sharing my passion of these subjects with others. I am heavily involved across campus and strive to make UIS better at every possible chance. My two major commitments on campus are my role as Treasurer on the UIS Student Government Association and a member of the UIS Squash Team. I also really enjoy listening to LMFAO songs with my Springfest team.

Mark - Chemistry/Math Undergraduate Peer Tutor

MarkI am a senior Chemistry major, Biology minor. I am a CAP Honors student and peer mentor. I have worked at the CTL for 2 1/2 years and have tutored or led SI sessions for Chemistry, Biology, and Math. I am involved in several student organizations including Christian Student Fellowship and Chemistry Club.

My name is Erik, and this is my first year as a graduate student and as a writing TA at the CTL. My B.A. is in English, and I am continuing English for my M.A. program. I am a published author and want to pursue any profession that lets me write, such as a professorship at a university. I love teaching and hope to help out as many people as I can as a TA.

Sarah - Writing Teaching Assistant

Sarah

Sarah Copllins, formerly Clinch, is a recent newlywed this past summer. She is a writing TA, and is a graduate student in English. She received her Bachelors from UIS in English in May 2010. She enjoys reading, writing fiction, graphic novels and film, and actually co-owns a production company, Not Coffee Productions, locally in the Springfield area. She looks forward to working with students this year in improving their writing skills and critical thinking!

Heather - Writing Teaching Assistant

This is Heather's first year at UIS as a grad student in Historywith a concentration in public history. Eventually she wants to work as a collections manager in museums. But for now, she loves learning all she can about American History. As a history major, writing has always been a big part of her education, so Heather can't wait to share all she knows on the topic with the students at UIS.

JoeyJoey is a second-year graduate student at the University of Illinois Springfield. His M.A. is going to be in English, and during his works as a writing tutor and TA. In his carefree time during the semester, he reads, writes, and randomly acts.

Lacey has a B.A. in English from NIU. While at Northern she pursued work in editing for a marketing team on campus, which led her to teach developmental writing at Richland Community College. When she's not daydreaming up characters for her latest creative story, she's riding her old and cranky tandem bicycle or watching films featuring Robert Redford and/or Jodi Foster. Stephanie - Writing Teaching Assistant

I'm a second year writing TA at the CTL. I love my job, but my favorite part is working with students one-to-one. I'm getting my Master's in history with a focus on public history. I enjoy writing and sharing with stutents what I've learned over the years.

TinaI am a Communications major and Political Science minor. I play softball at UIS and consider myself to be very outgoing and personable. I love meeting new people and love to share not only my writing skills but also my sthletic abilities with people in the community. It is very rewarding to share my knowledge and skills with my peers. I plan on entering a competitive field of broadcasting following graduation. I live my life on the edge, take chances, make mistakes, and strive for excellence in everything that I do.

I am a junior with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I also have a minor in Social Responsibility and Leadership Development. I enjoy getting involved in campus activities and I am ready to help students reach their full potential.

Bott, MeganI am a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I am involved in women’s organizations on campus, such as Women’s Issues Caucus and the American Association of University Women. I also enjoy writing and tutoring as well. I help my friends proofread their papers and I am a writing tutor for the Honor’s program. I am glad that I can help other students at UIS through the CTL!

I am a first year graduate student in Human Development Counselingand I am excited to be the new Academics Skills TA. I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors in Psychology in May '10. Since then I have been working as a case manager in rehab guiding alcoholics and drug addicts toward recovery. Driving is one of my favorite hobbies and I enjoy spending time with my friends in Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington, and the suburbs of Chicago.

I'm a History major aspiring to be a professor. My favorite historical figures are Alexander the Great and most of the Caesars hands down. Academics aside, I spend most of my time writing (poems, short stories), playing piano and singing, and gaming...grand amounts of gaming. My overall life goal is to travel the world.

Jessica CarrHello, my name is Jessica. I am an undergraduate student double majoring in political science and communications. I also am a capital honors program student. My hometown is located in southern Illinois, but I love the atmosphere of Springfield. Though I am a SI Leader for Math, I am interested in writing and photography as well.

I am a junior CAP honors program student majoring in Communication. My career goal is to get involved with sports information/public relations and to eventually become an athletic director. My passion is sports and sports broadcasting, and I am currently the PA announcer for UIS baseball and softball. I am from the small town of Athens, IL which is about 30 minutes north of campus. I am also a peer tutor and mentor for the CAP Honors program.

I am a senior, living here in Springfield. I am a Biology major and a chemistry minor. I have worked in a number of Biology positions such as a laboratory researcher and I have been involved in the Emiquon project. I am also married and have a 3 year old child that I adore.

Hello everyone! I am a Junior Chemistry Major. I am engaged to the most amazing girl ever! Her name is Kate and she is the reason I came to UIS. I started off going to four different schools in four semesters. I also took two years off of school to be a missionary for my church. I love figuring out how things work. Because of that, I like chemistry and physics. Some of my other interests are theater, taking things apart, fixing things, landscaping, youtube, and biking. Ultimately I want to become a chemistry professor and teach at a University.
