  1. How much does it cost for an appointment at the center?
It's free! All the appointments at the center are free to current faculty, staff, and students at UIS.

  2. Where's the Center located?
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is located in Brookens 460. The Brookens building is the library. The CTL is on the fourth floor.

  3. What should I bring to my appointment?
You should bring your class notes, class textbook, writing implements, and some scratch paper. Additionally writing tutors request that you leave your paper with them at least an hour before your appointment so that they may proofread your work before meeting with you. It is helpful if you can provide us with the instructor's assignment. Math and science tutors request that you provide the assignment and a copy of the class notes if the instructor doesn't use a book.

  4. How do I make an appointment?
Appointments can be made by calling 206-6503. Or, email ctl@uis.edu and request an appointment with a TA or an instructor.

  5. How many hours per week can I meet with a Teaching Assistant (TA)?
You are allotted a total of two hours a week.

  6. Can I request a specific TA?
Yes, but tutors are available on a first come first serve basis per time slot.
