Chancellor’s Award for Recognizing Excellence in Civil Service (CARE in Civil Service)
This award, established jointly by the chancellor and the Civil Service Advisory Council, will serve to recognize the exceptional work of all civil service employees and will honor one employee each year. The recipient receives $500 and an additional $500 to donate to the campus organization of his/her choice.

Civil Service Appreciation Day
This is a day each year in which the UIS community formally recognizes the hard work and dedication of these important staff members. This event is held in the fall semester each year. Activities included a luncheon hosted by the Chancellor and free sporting event tickets from the Chancellor to employees. Activities Included on this day were a scavenger hunt, Civil Service Question and Answer Session, and door prizes were given to employees.

Staff Scholarship Silent Auction
The auction is the major fundraising event for the Staff Scholarship. The Staff Scholarship is for any academic professional, civil service permanent employee, or faculty member who has worked at UIS at least six months, an eligible employee’s spouse, domestic partner, civil union partner or children enrolled at UIS may apply for the staff scholarship. Retirees who worked at UIS for at least seven years as well as their spouses and children, children and the spouse of a deceased UIS employee with seven years of UIS employment , and employees of related agencies housed on the UIS campus are also eligible for this scholarship. The auction is held annually in the spring semester. All monies raised go to fund the Staff Scholarship.
