Dr. Karen Swan is leading an effort at UIS to study online learning within a commonly accepted model of learning in online environments called the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework.
The CoI framework suggests that learning processes in online courses are supported by three presences – social presence, teaching presence and cognitive presence. A group of researchers working in this area have developed and validated an online survey which measures student perceptions of the three presences in their online courses.
All UIS instructors are invited to participate in this research. Please ask students in your online and blended courses to fill out the survey.
To have the survey added to your Blackboard course site, please contact COLRS.
