update 4/16/2008: The Webposium is beginning this Friday. It will be conducted through our Blackboard course management system. To join the conference and view all the students' presentations, as well as participate in discussions and comments, send an email to Amanda Winters at awint01s@uis.edu; she will use your UIS email address to add you to the Webposium Blackboard.

Showcasing Excellence in Online Student Scholarship

The purpose of this WebPosium is to recognize the exceptional research completed by our online students.

The Goals of the WebPosium are:

  • To promote development of online student research and presentation skills
  • To enrich the academic experience of UIS Online students
  • To help prepare online students for their professions or for graduate school; and
  •  To cultivate mentoring relationships between Online students and their Faculty.

Research from all online academic disciplines within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is welcomed and encouraged. The research must have been conducted as part of a UIS online course or as an independent study with a UIS online instructor.  The WebPosium has been scheduled to accommodate work completed by December of 2007 at the latest.

Awards: There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall Webposium award for the best Presentations. They will be:

          1st Overall- 30GB Ipod

          2nd Overall- 4GB Ipod

          3rd Overall-  Digital Camera

There will also be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize for outstanding presentations within each unit. They will be:

          1st in Unit- Portable DVD player

          2nd in Unit- Webcam

          3rd in Unit- 2 GB Flash drive

Also, each student whose paper is selected for presentation will receive a gift box from UIS and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
