English Professor named University Scholar
Associate Professor Lan Dong of the English program was recently named the 2012 University Scholar! The University Scholars Program makes this award annually to an outstanding member of faculty who is viewed as embodying excellence as a teacher-scholar.
Professor Dong is an expert on the iterations of Mulan. She was described by Provost Lynn Pardie as a scholar who “works across sociohistorical and cultural contexts, analyzes important themes and issues in literary and visual texts to increase understanding of race, ethnicity, and gender issues in Asian and Asian American literature.” Please visit the English program’s website to learn more about her work.
