Welcome to the UIS Chemistry Department!
The study of chemistry can lead to rewarding experiences and careers. In the UIS Chemistry program, students learn the properties, composition, and structure of matter and the laws that govern the combination of elements and reactions of substances.
With this knowledge, our B.S. graduates are prepared for direct entry into chemical professions or for more advanced training in graduate or professional programs. Some recent employers of UIS Chemistry graduates include, but are not limited to:
Many students go on to earn advanced degrees in Chemistry from institutions such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Tennessee, University of Houston, and Purdue University.
Some students have enrolled in professional schools, including SIU School of Medicine, St. Louis University School of Medicine, and SIU School of Dentistry.
