In case of emergency - Calling all students

What system are we starting to put into place at UIS that we hope we’ll never have to use? The answer is a new emergency notification system that will augment our emergency response plans and help maximize campus safety. The new system will allow us to reach students, faculty and staff more quickly in case of emergencies that could be life-threatening. We expect that it will be up and running in the spring '08 semester. Watch for announcements about how to sign up to receive text or email messages about emergencies on your cell phone, PDA, computer or other devices. The service will be voluntary, but you are encouraged to participate.

UIS alum in news - TIME magazine on Perino

UIS alum Dana Perino, who has just been named White House press secretary, is featured in an article in the October 18 edition of TIME magazine. It talks about how Perino's self-confident and easy-going manner will help her "sell an unpopular war and a weakened President to a skeptical audience," according to reporter Massimo Calabresi. He says, however, that journalists "are in no mood to give her a pass" primarily due to the lingering war in Iraq. Sounds like our 1995 PAR graduate has her work cut out for her!
