Our certification candidates must demonstrate:

  • Quality teaching and professional practice by possessing a deep knowledge of their subject matter and theories of learning and instruction, as well as a commitment to continuing professional development, the skillful utilization of reflection, and continuous data-based improvement processes.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of public affairs (including knowledge of educational policy and a commitment to service) in order to better serve the diverse communities in which they will practice.

  • Understanding of the diverse aspects of technology and its application towards the development of a quality learning environment for all students.

  • Knowledge, skills and dispositions that will foster diversity, including enhancing the learning opportunities for students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as for students with special needs.
