University Classes

During the academic year (August through May) Individual English courses for non-native speakers are offered at the intermediate through advanced levels. These courses are open to all non-native English speakers:

  • LNG 091 ESL Reading & Writing
  • LNG 092 ESL Speaking & Listening
  • LNG 101 ESL Advanced Written & Oral Communication

Class sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and significant interaction with instructors. Classes are taught by native and native-like English speakers who are experienced ESL instructors.

Note: LNG 091, LNG 092, and LNG 101 are English courses that are not a part of the Intensive English Program.

Current UIS students can register for LNG courses through the course schedule. These are listed under Modern Languages (LNG).

For conditionally admitted international undergraduates these courses count toward full-time student status. However, only LNG 101 counts as university credit.
