About the 2008 "Foot in the Door" Fair

Welcome! The Career Development Center at the University of Illinois at Springfield is pleased to announce the 2009 "Foot in the Door" Fair, being held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Public Affairs Center Concourse on the UIS Campus. The “Foot in the Door Fair” is intended to bring students and employers/organizations together to discuss a variety of career opportunities, both on and off-campus, including part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities. We recognize the importance of part-time opportunities as career-building steps, and encourage students to get their “foot in the door” towards these opportunities early on in their education and career.

The "Foot in the Door"' Fair will be marketed to all UIS students! In previous years, between 250 and 300 students have attended the event! All attending employers must have open part-time jobs, internships, or volunteer opportunities in order to reserve space. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to consider UIS candidates for positions with your organization!

To register for the event:
Registration takes place through our online system called UIS CareerConnect (formerly UIS-Success), which also allows employers to establish a company profile and post career opportunities for FREE! UIS students and alumni are then able to view and apply for positions directly through the system by uploading their resume.

Registration steps:

1. Go to http://www.uis.edu/careerservices and click on the “UIS CareerConnect” icon on the right-hand side of the page. Or, you can just go to http://www.uis.edu/careerservices/uissuccess_login.html.


2. Click "I am an Employer or Contact for the Professional Network".


3. If you are new to the system, simply click the "Register" button, or follow the instructions to register and also post a career opportunity (the UIS Career Development Center will approve your registration within 24 hours). If you have visited the system before, log in using your username and password, or click the "need password" button for assistance.


4. Once logged in to UIS CareerConnect, click the "Registrations/Surveys" tab at the top, then on the "Respond" button to complete the form.
