Your student will go through the stages of career selection with different rates of speed based on the time needed to assess skills and interests, as well as the span of time needed to explore a variety of class options and campus activities.
The college years are a time of exploration, experimentation, and learning on many levels for students as well as parents. Some student challenges may seem more positive than others, but all contribute to the educational outcomes of the college experience.
The UIS Career Development Center's objectives are clear:
- Takes an educational approach to providing services.
- Provide a wide variety of informational resources.
- Provides emotional support to students.
- Links students with employers.
The CDC is ready to become your partner in helping your student navigate the process of making his or her career plans a reality.
Career planning begins long before graduation, so encourage your student to visit our office and talk to our counselors early and often!
