About Us

The Career Development Center (CDC) at the University of Illinois at Springfield, located in the heart of Illinois, is a dynamic and exciting place that offers services and programming to students, alumni, faculty, staff, community members and employers.

The CDC offers a variety of quality services by first class staff and licensed counselors who specialize in career counseling using both online and face-to-face methods of service delivery. Career counseling is our primary service, and we encourage all students, regardless of your class standing, to begin using our services early, so we can assist you in developing and implementing your career action plan. We have something to offer everyone, whether it's related to choosing a major, exploring career options, gaining experience, preparing for your job search, deciding about graduate school, making a career transition, or managing job related stress. Let the CDC help you every step of the way.

Even if your schedule is busy, the CDC offers an extensive line of career systems available 24/7 that can help you learn more about yourself, research careers, industries, company and key contact information, obtain a list of internship and job postings, and practice interviewing while receiving feedback from an interview coach. All you need to do is register for services with the CDC and request the passwords. The CDC is also your primary source for resume critiques, mock interviews and learning about business etiquette, so your first impression to recruiters is positive, paving the way to open doors for additional opportunities.

In today’s competitive job market, it is important to prepare yourself, and our services can provide job seekers that edge. The CDC has touched many lives by bringing job seekers and employers together to meet career goals. The annual career fair, part-time job fair, Career Pursuit Reality Show, Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour, You’re Hired: Dress for Success Style Show and on-campus recruitment opportunities are some of our offerings to assist students in becoming more career savvy.
