The Career Development Center offers our diverse constituents a varity service options and fees.

CLEP & Test Prep Service Length Payment Options

 

Enrolled Student Fees

  • A fee is paid automatically by enrolled students when registering for classes
  • Career Fee per semester: Fall and Spring $15.50 and Summer $7.75
  • Distance methods of connecting are by phone, email, web-based secured system and webcast
  • Additional fee for Career Assessments will be paid based on Assessment Cost
  • Students not consecutively enrolled may use services by paying the fee for the semester not enrolled
  • Example: Taking courses in spring snd fall semester but not taking summer classes)

Alumni Packages & Fees

  • Services and events are available in our office or from a distance
  • Will need to call the CDC to schedule first appointment
  • Distance methods of connecting are by phone, email, web-based secured system and webcast
  • Alumni Eligibility – anyone who has taken a class at UIS or SSU
  • Reduced service fee applies for the first year following graduation based on semester:
    • 1st Semester: Serviced provided free (excludes “add on” and assessment cost)
    • 2nd Semester: Package #3 will be provided free of charge; other packages at “New” Alumni fee
    • 3rd Semester: All packages provided at the “New” alumni fee
  • Fees are assessed per semester and are not pro-rated
  • Payment is required before accessing services and resources

Package Options:

Option #1 – All-Inclusive Alumni Package:

  • Fee: “New” Alumni $40.00 and Alumni $80.00
  • Services and Resources included:

Option #2 – Online Resources/Fast Pass/Workshops Package

  • Fee: “New” Alumni $30.00 and Alumni $50.00
  • Services and Resources included:

Option #3 – Online Job and Opportunity Listings

  • Fee: “New” Alumni/Alumni: $20.00
  • Limited access to CareerConnect- Review job and opportunity listings only

 

Option #4 – Career Assessment with Administration and Interpretation: $40.00 Plus Assessment Cost

  • Fee:$40.00 Plus Assessment Cost
  • 2 Career Counseling Appointments:
    • Session 1 – Determine appropriate assessment and administer
    • Session 2 – Review assessment results and receive interpretation

Option #5 – OptimalResume: More Than an Online Resume Builder Package

  • Fee will be paid directly to OptimalResume.com
    • 24 hours of access – $3.99
    • 1 full year of access $39.99 (50% cheaper than individual rate of $79.99 for 1 year
  • Exclusive agreement for Alumni to access OptimalResume at a discounted fee to use system to
    • Build a better resume and draft cover letters/ thank notes
    • Manage an online portfolio, identify skills, and develop a personal brand
    • Practicing and critiquing interviewing skills
    • Learn more about OptimalResume

  • Includes 2 Career Counseling Appointments:
    • Session 1 – Determine appropriate assessment and administer
    • Session 2 – Review assessment results and receive interpretation

Clep & Test Prep

CLEP Tests

  • College Level Examination Program provides an opportunity to receive college credit for knowledge acquired through a variety of ways
  • Administrative Cost per CLEP Test taken at UIS $20
  • For CLEP exams taken on or after July 1 , 2012: $80 per exam
    • Payment is required on the day of the exam at your exam workstation.
    • Use Visa, Master Card, or Discover), check or money order as payment source (No Cash)
    • Money orders need to be payable to College Level Examination Program

Web-Based College Test Prep Courses

  • In partnership with Cambridge Educational Services, the CDC offers test preparation services
  • For more information about the Cambridge Test Prep Courses
  • Test Prep Courses can be purchases by Students, Alumni, and Community Members
  • Cost of each Course:
    • Cambridge Online GMAT Prep Course:  $119.00
    • Cambridge Online GRE Prep Course:  $119.00
    • Cambridge Online LSAT Prep Course:  $119.00
    • Cambridge Online ACT Prep Course:  $99.00
    • Cambridge Online SAT Prep Course:  $99.00

Payment Options

About Payments

  • Fees are due each semester and are not pro-rated. Dates and fees are subject to change
  • Payment must be received by the Career Development Center prior to obtaining services

Pay Options:

  • Online Payment using Visa, Master Card, and Discover credit cards: PAY NOW
  • Pay by phone or in-person with Visa, Master Card, and Discover credit cards
  • Cash is only accepted when provided in-person
  • Personal Checks accepted via mail or in-person
    • Make check payable to UIS and include drivers license number or UIN
